Jon and Vangelis

Jon and Vangelis

Jon and Vangelis were a duo comprised of Jon Anderson from Yes and the Greek synth pioneer Vangelis. They had already had a long and fruitful musical partnership when they released their first album together in early 1980. Vangelis briefly rehearsed with Yes after Rick Wakeman left the band (for the first time) in 1973. A couple of years later, Anderson contributed vocals to the Vangelis album Heaven and Hell. Vangelis is rumored to have played on Anderson’s Olias of Sunhillow. And in 1979, the elfin singer added harp to the Vangelis album Opéra Sauvage. Jon and Vangelis would release four albums together between 1980 and 1991; their most productive period was during the years 1980 – 1983.
